FAQs
What age range do you work with?
I work with all ages up to 25. I typically work more closely with the parents / guardians of children below the age of 8 as evidence shows this can be more effective and containing for a child.
What kind of issues do you specialise in?
I've had success working with young people who are struggling with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges, such as anxiety, depression, and difficulties with social interactions.
What is your approach to therapy?
I believe in creating a safe and supportive space where children and adolescents can feel comfortable expressing themselves. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including play and cognitive-behavioural therapy, to help young people develop the skills they need to cope with challenges and build resilience.
How long is a typical therapy session?
A typical session last around 50 minutes, however this can be too long for some children and the timing can be adjusted to fit their needs.
How many sessions are typically needed?
The length of therapy can vary depending on the individual's needs and goals. We'll work together to determine the best course of action.
What can I expect from the initial consultation?
The initial consultation is a great opportunity for us to get to know each other and discuss your child's specific needs. We'll talk about their history, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve through therapy.
How often are therapy sessions?
Typically, sessions are scheduled weekly, but we can adjust the frequency to fit your family's schedule.
How involved will I be in the therapy process?
I believe that parents play a vital role in their child's well-being. I'll work closely with you to provide support and guidance throughout the therapeutic process. Depending on the child’s needs we may decide that parent sessions are less disruptive to the child and more successful in supporting their needs.
What if my child doesn't want to talk?
It's understandable if your child may feel hesitant to express themselves verbally. I often use creative approaches like play therapy and art therapy to help them open up and process their emotions.
How do I know if therapy is working?
We'll regularly check in to assess your child's progress. You may notice positive changes in their behaviour, mood, and overall well-being.
